Gendermainstreaming forum slated during the 2020 National Science and Technology Week

As part of the Department of Science and Technology’s (DOST) role in pursuing a gender-sensitive society, the Gender and Development and Regional Support Service (GRSS) will spearhead an online discussion on the importance of gender mainstreaming as a strategy in designing science and technology programs during the 2020 National Science and Technology Week (NSTW).

The promulgation under Republic Act 9710 or the Magna Carta of Women calls for government agencies to participate actively to end discrimination on women and to amplify the need for more gender-responsive programs. The DOST, as an agency mandated to lead scientific and technological efforts for sustainable development, plays a vital role in achieving this goal.

Dr. Rhodora C. Bucoy, former Chairperson of the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) and Ms. Nharleen C. Millar, Chief of the Technical Services and Regional Coordination Division of the PCW will be the speakers for this forum.

The said event will go live on 25 November 2020, 3:00 PM, via the NSTW virtual portal at nstw.dost.gov.ph.

The NSTW is a yearly celebration that highlights the many contributions of science and technology to national development through various programs in agriculture, enterprise development, industry competitiveness, health and nutrition, education, community empowerment, and disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation, among others.
