Hybrid Electric Train

Visitors to the 2018 National Science and Technology Week pose in front of the Hybrid Electric Train display booth of the Metals Industry Research and Development Center of the Department of Science and Technology. An innovative mass transport solution of the DOST-MIRDC, the hybrid train runs on both diesel fuel and electricity which reduces the carbon emission, making the hybrid train a sustainable mode of transportation. The hybrid train with a brake system that generates power can carry as many as 220 passengers per trip running at 60-80kph on the existing rail tracks of the Philippine National Railways.
